The Kiwanis Read-a-thon is an exciting literacy-improvement activity is dedicated to contributing to the development of lifelong literacy skills by enhancing and promoting student reading in elementary schools.
This web site brings together all the elements you’ll need to run a successful Read-a-thon in your school, from backpack handouts to classroom fun. - Ottawa Schools Win $4000, bikes, books, and author visits
Four Ottawa schools, Uplands Catholic Elementary School, Assumption Catholic School, Regina Street Public School and Severn Avenue Public School won $1000 each towards the purchase of a Forest of Reading® program 2010 or towards the purchase of high interest low vocabulary biographies from Grassroots Press , or other literacy resources. Cash prizes were donated by Canada Post.
For the seconnd year in a row, Canadian Tire Stores in Ottawa generously donated 42 bikes to selected schools in Ottawa.
