Improving literacy has become one of our community’s most compelling social issues. Knowing how to read and write effectively is essential to success in school and in life. The Kiwanis Read-a-thon was designed to provide schools with a reading program that can be easily integrated into ongoing literacy improvement efforts. As well, Read-a-thon offers schools an optional fundraising component they can use to raise money for library improvement or other school priorities.

Read-a-thon is a proven winner with students and teachers alike. For participating schools, it has become a highlight on the school calendar, a period of celebration and fun centred on reading. The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa needs your help to bring Read-a-thon into many more schools. Your support can make a lifelong difference to a child. Please join with us and others in your community to help our children learn to love reading.
