all school boards, foundations, and members of the community in
helping bring Read-a-thon into all schools.
Message
from Kiwanis
Improving literacy has become one of our community's most compelling
social issues. Knowing how to read and write effectively is essential
to success in school and in life. The Kiwanis Read-a-thon was designed
to provide schools with a reading program that can be easily integrated
into on-going literacy improvement efforts. The Kiwanis Read-a-thon
program provides teachers with everything they need to implement
a reading initiative in their classroom that focuses on increasing
the satisfaction and enjoyment children can experience through reading.
Read-a-thon is a proven winner with students and teachers alike.
It has become a highlight on the school year calendar as a period
of celebration and fun centred on reading. As well, the Kiwanis
Read-a-thon provides schools with an optional fundraising component
they can use to raise money for library improvement or other school
priorities.
The Kiwanis Club needs your help to bring the Read-a-thon into
many more schools. Your support can make a lifelong difference to
a child. Please join with us and others in your community to help
our children learn to love reading.
