Participating Schools 2005

Entering Year Three, the Kiwanis Read-a-thon enjoyed another successful year with Ottawa-area schools, as well as new participation from other areas, including Calgary, Alberta, and the United States. The participating schools were delighted to have the Read-a-thon website for support, and beacon schools appreciated the donation of books and prizes. The “Not Now Mom, I’m Reading!" Read-a-thon printed materials, donated by the Raise a Reader program, included posters for schools, bookmarks and participation certificates for students, and brochures for teachers and parents. They were extremely well received and assisted in promoting the program within the school and the school community.

As in previous years, the main focus for the participating schools was to promote reading, with only a few schools using Read-a-thon as a fundraiser.
